WW1 Military issue Dennison mark VI, 1916 pocket watch style compass. Dennison Birmingham VI 116701, 1916. A nice condition WW1 British Army Officers MK VI pocket compass, engraved Dennison Birmingham VI 116701 1916, and military broad arrow on the lid. The polished full hunter style case retains its original nickel plating, and the bevelled glass crystal cover the jewelled bearing floating dial, which has intact original markings. Stamped "100379" above "M" on the inside of the cover, the swivel face of the compass marked in increments of five degrees on the outer ring and marked with numerical increments of twenty degrees on the inner ring, large arrow in gold and black paint at the North position, the E, S and W positions in gold paint and outlined in black, the NE, SE, SW and NW positions in black, the positions flanked by dots in gold paint and outlined in black on either side, a directional pointer in gold paint and outlined in black on the underside of the flat glass face.
It is in full working order, with strong hinge including the transit lock. It is released by pushing the release button on the top. A great example from the most renowned maker of this style of compass. Some marks and minor dents to the case from active use.
