A rare walking stick incorporating a two draw telescope, constructed in a wooden bamboo style, taper form with brass protective covering to the base and a steel tip, the top of the stick with brass threaded cap over the telescope lens. The telescope unscrews from the stick and the concealed draw tubes can be drawn from the barrel, the first draw clearly signed,'Ramsden, London'.
The draw tubes pull firmly and smoothly giving a length of 22" (55.5 cms) fully drawn and 11.5" (29 cms) closed. The main lens has a diameter of 1. The stick has a length of 37.5 (95 cms) and the telescope gives excellent clear views as expected. No dents / chips / cracks. Jesse Ramsden worked 1762 - 1800.
