Vintage Watson Inclined Viewing Accessory for High-Power Binocular Microscope
This listing is for a specialist Watson component called the Inclination Unit dating from the 1940s and intended for use with Watson's Service, Bactil and Patna models of microscope in order to allow the instrument stage to remain level during viewing. It's normally seen in conjunction with Bactil and Patna models along with the high-power binocular unit and the final three listing photos show an inclination unit fitted to a 1940s Watson Bactil model. The inclination unit can be used in conjunction with both binocular and monocular heads, although it's normally seen along with the high-power binocular unit. It slides into position on dovetails and is held firmly in place with a spring-clip mechanism.
It also gives a 50% magnification boost. The optics in this example look pretty clear and in age-appropriate condition. Overall, this is a very nice period Watson accessory, giving additional flexibility and the ability to keep the instrument stage level, when viewing liquid specimens for example.
