You now have the opportunity to own this beautiful very rare, perfect example of English precision craftsmanship from the early 1900? S which was once owned by Sir Robert Mc Alpine. This is a genuine, quality original ER Watts Vernier Theodolite manufactured in London and has the Serial Nr: 77118.
This Instrument has been professionally restored and lacquered. To restore an instrument like this takes a huge amount of work hours because of all the intricate parts. This theodolite is in full working order.
The telescope optics are good, and clean, with a nice clear image. The cross hairs are also clean and the instrument has been Collimated (Calibrated). This theodolite also comes with its wooden transportation box. What is particularly nice about these old brass instruments, is all the different shades of brass that are used in its manufacture.They weren't that good at getting the alloy mixtures correct like today. This is the instrument you usually find in old films used by Land Surveyors or on display in the Architects office sitting on a tripod or on the mantelpiece. We also restore old theodolites and levels on request. If you read my feedbacks you will see that there are comments from buyers on how well packed their instruments were received.
The Tripod is not included in this sale. It was only used to show off the instruments beauty in daylight.
