You now have the opportunity to own this beautiful very unusual and rare, perfect example of English precision craftsmanship from the late 1800s early 1900s.
This is a genuine, quality old original Stanley Vernier The Eltham Theodolite Serial Nr: 42231, perfect to put on display. This Instrument has been professionally restored and lacquered.To restore an instrument like this back to its brass takes a huge amount of work hours because of all the intricate parts. This theodolite is also in full working order.
The telescope optics are good, and clean, with a nice clear image and the instrument has been Collimated (Calibrated). What is particularly nice about these old brass instruments, is all the different shades of brass and copper that are used in its manufacture.
They werent that good at getting the alloy mixtures correct like today. This is the instrument you usually find in old films used by Land Surveyors or on display in the Architects office sitting on a tripod or on the mantelpiece. We also restore old theodolites and levels on request.Allot of my sales are also to repeat customers. This instrument comes with its wooden carrying case. The Tripod is not included in this sale.
