It has a fine hook on the right hand side with a lift off cover. This is used to suspend the article being weighed.

The protective cover was originally hinged from the bottom but now is modified to be lift off. The balance is of historical scientific interest or can still be used particularly useful for textile yarn or fibre weighing or small samples of fabric up to half a gram only for calculation purposes such as gsm readings etc. The balance was made in England by White Electrical Instruments Co Ltd and is model 0 with ref number 27213D.
