Below the stage is a large adjustable mirror for directing the light and a rotating pinpoint filter. The microscope is unsigned with no indication of a maker but the craftsmanship is superb and the design is similar to that of Swift microscopes of the period. It measures approximately 18 (46cm) tall when set up.
The wooden base is 7" (18cm) x 5 1/2" (14cm). The microscope is in good condition for its age and the brass has been lightly cleaned and polished. It has of course been used and there are signs of general use and age but no major damages or anything detrimental. There are some small knocks and light scratches on the base and I believe the small brass handle for the sliding mechanism on the tubes has been replaced but overall it displays very well.
It appears to be in good working order and I have set it up and tested it with a few old slides. I'm sure the lenses would benefit from a clean and there are a few small specks of dirt but they produce a clear and bright image all the same and the microscope was relatively easy to focus. The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions at all please ask.
