A large fine polished & lacquered brass microscope signed'C BAKER. 244 HIGH HOLBORN, LONDON' DPH No.

6685 contained in a wooden case. The instrument is in full working order throughout - smooth working rack & pinion and an excellent sensitive fine focus. The stage is fully mechanical with fully operational rack & pinions with slide holder with measuring gauge. Underneath there is rack & pinion sub-stage condenser with a working diaphragm adjustment. Beneath is a good fully adjustable plano-concave mirror - silvering excellent. Objective with signed canister C Baker 244. Objective as above 1/6 INCH. Nickel plated objective with brass canister C BAKER 1/12th INCH. Optics work well - but oil immersion 1/12th lens not tested. The instrument has been professionally polished and lacquered in traditional lacquer & is good & tight to use - no sloppiness!

Height when compressed: 28.3 cms: extended approximately 40 cms. Weight with case (unpacked) over 6.5 kilos. The instrument appears to have been used by the Government's Department of Public Health as it is marked on the base DPH. A robust, heavy well designed easy to use handsome instrument. The original robust wooden case has a strong full length hinge & a good handle.

However please note: the working lock is a later replacement with a key. I often use recycled materials & carefully extra pack the items to arrive safely.
