For sale here is this vintage set of 3 original old school teaching aid models of geometric crystal shapes. Made in the Czech Republic around the 1950's. This decorative vintage geometry model set consists of 3bCrystal model pieces, they are different shapes that crystals take when forming they all have different names MONOCLINIC, TRICLINIC, RHOMBIC, TETRAGONAL etc etc. The crystals all have numbers on them.A simple crystal may consist of only a single crystal form. A more complicated crystal may be a combination of several different forms.
The crystal forms of the five non-isometric crystal systems are the monohedron or pedion, parallelohedron or pinacoid, dihedron, or dome and sphenoid, disphenoid, prism, pyramid, dipyramid, trapezohedron, scalenohedron, rhombohedron and tetrahedron. Fifteen different forms are possible within the isometric system. They are in clear Perspex.
They would have been used to either teach solid geometry and the formation of crystals or to help art students with geometric shape visualization. No longer used in school they now make fantastic decorative items. Geometric shapes have long been a staple of the interior designers tool kit. They are understated, simple yet very stylish.
