Surveyor's brass cross staff 45 degrees in leather case. Description: 18th century, or early 19th century. Consists of a detachable brass handle and head. The handle screws inside the head for carriage. The whole is contained in its original leather case. Dimensions: leather case 7.5cms high x 6.5cms diameter. Instrument head: 6.3cms high with the octagon head being 5.4cms across. Assembled with handle: the instrument is 12.4cms long. Condition: Two sighting hairs are missing (these can easily be replaced). The condition is excellent and the leather case is particularly fine with its original stitching intact. The leather case has a fine patina.
