Rare Minifon P55 Spy Recorder. 1951. German Made UK Sold As Used By MI5
Offered for sale is this ultra rare spy equipment from the early 1950s. This was made in Germany and retailed in the uk. It has several leaflets from when new. Various what I assume to be what the voice gets recorded on to.
This is a very rare item and currently this is the only one I can find for sale in the Uk. One in Germany and a couple in the USA.
The leather case seems to have well protected it, although the case itself is not in the best of condition. Batteries do not seem to have leaked acid at all and terminals seem in great shape. I havent tried to test as I have no idea how to work it and would not want to cause more harm than good. It was found in a loft, there was also other police literature and pictures of a man in police uniform from the 1940s / 50s so I guess this ties in with that?
But not sure anymore of its history.
