Rare Antique German Alcohol Meter in Original 3 Piece Case c. This piece was made in Germany and was found in northern France near the German Border in Lorraine. On the inside sleeve of the protective case is written in French Mesure Le degree d'Alcool. This devise was actually used to make "Eau du Vie" or The Water of Life. In this case, The owner was authorized by the Government to make Eau de Vie from Mirabelles in Lorraine.
The actual meter is 8.5" long and the case is 9.25". The interior also has the original beveled cork which holds the delicate meter in place without damage.
