A rare combined pattern mahogany and brass photometer. Designed by W Corbridge B. Sc comprising of a rectangular mahogany box open at the bottom to enable it to be placed in position over a variety of objects. The four sides all have rectangular apertures, one having a vertical brass strip fitted across its centre, a white cube is pivoted inside the box and may be rotated slowly by means of a pulley and belt system and viewed through a black lacquered brass aperture in the top of the instrument. When used in this way it behaves as a flicker photometer. Various accessories can be used with this apparatus to turn the photometer also into a lummer-brodhum type of photometer, a Bunsen's joule's and Rumford's photometers. The apparatus is in lovely condition for its age and has the inlaid Philip Harris logo disk. The flicker rotating pulley arm has black lacquered brass pulleys with an ebonite handle.
