This is a rare large vintage pantograph inscribed with Hall Harding Ltd. An English, brass scientific mapping instrument, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1950, and stored in the original carriage box. Ideal for cartographers or as a unique display piece for those with a scientific interest. Would look great mounted on a wall! Fascinating scale and mechanical interest.
Displays a desirable aged patina. Bright brass finish with appealing golden tones.
Extends to a maximum depth of 155.5cm (61.25). Rolling on a trio of smooth castors. Heavy brass triangular base with 3 pins and backed with green felt.Presented within a spacious carriage box with lock and original key. I cannot guarantee that this item is complete as I have not used it for technical drawings. The original use of the pantograph was for copying and scaling line drawings, so that the movement of one pen, in tracing an image, produces identical movements in a second pen. If a line drawing is traced by the first point, an identical, enlarged, or miniaturised copy will be drawn by a pen fixed to the other.
