Rare Mid Victorian Brass Gyroscope on stand / Science Demonstration Instrument. We are delighted to bring to you this exceptionally rare, solid brass gyroscope from the mid 1800s. This would have been used as a teaching aid to demonstrate angular momentum and other gyroscopic effects. The gyroscope consists of a brass flywheel mounted on a gimble and stem. The stem fits into a heavy brass base and is kept tight with a small screw.

The whole piece has an aged brass patina and retains its original lacquer. It stands at 25 cm tall, and is 14 cm wide at its widest point. The flywheel has a diameter of 8 cm.
