Rare Mid Victorian Brass Gyroscope on stand / Science Demonstration Instrument. We are delighted to bring to you this exceptionally rare, solid brass gyroscope from the mid 1800s. This would have been used as a teaching aid to demonstrate angular momentum and other gyroscopic effects. The gyroscope consists of a brass flywheel mounted on a gimble and stem.

The stem fits into a heavy brass base and is kept tight with a small screw. The whole piece has an aged brass patina and retains its original lacquer. It stands at 25 cm tall, and is 14 cm wide at its widest point.
