Microscope Spectroscope Sorby- Browning Fine John Browning Brass
An exceptional condition and early WORKING example of the Sorby Browning Liquid analysis Spectroscope, in its flame polished mahogany box. The earlier examples came in flatter style hinged cases as this is, with space for well slides and glass liquid tubes. Sorby worked along side John Browning to design a spectroscope for use in microscopy for analysing minute liquids and solids against a standard. The example you see here is 100% original finish and the spectroscopes condition can be described as fine and of museum quality. There is a sliding pull course movement and rack and pinion fine focus, remembering that much focus can be achieved by the microscope. The Instrument is signed " John Browning, London ". The main mirror is on an articulating ball joint with a separate small mirror to illuminate the vernier wheel. The Prisms are in A1 Condition and the spectrometer gives a Fine and Clear Spectrum. The Colimator/slit, is in perfect working order.
The tube holder platform is of feathered lacquered brass. Case Dimensions = 15 x 5 x 3 Inches. The item "Microscope Spectroscope Sorby- Browning Fine John Browning Brass" is in sale since Tuesday, July 17, 2018.
