Old slides of historical significance by slide preparers including. Prize Medal winner at the 1867 Paris Exhibition. This item comprises over 90 antique slides, making it a historically interesting slide collection.

Tray 1 contains 9 slides of human tissue section by A. Cole and includes tendon, ileum, scalp, adipose and connective tissue. Tray 2 contains 12 slides of animal tissue section by Cole including cat liver, cat nerve fibre, rabbit kidney and horse nerve cells.

Tray 3 contains 14 slides of various subject matter but the 5 by C. Lapage are of particular historic interest. Tray 4 contains 14 slides all attributed to H. Primula Japonica, Papaver Cambrica but also moth eggs, pollen and algae. There is an unusual wooden slide containing seeds of Portulacea.

Tray 5 contains 14 slides of hepatic (moss) specimens. Some are almost certainly by Beesley but others are older (one being dated June 1886). A slide of Jungermannia Nevicensis was collected on Ben Nevis at 3500 ft, by J.

Six of the slides in this tray have an "impinging mount" and have no microscopic value. Tray 6 contains an assorted group of fourteen slides. Provenance uncertain but almost certainly mid to late 1800s. Handwriting suggests all or some might be by Beesley. Four of the slides have "impinging mounts" and are of no microscopic interest. Tray 7 contains 8 slides, five of moss and two of algae. Cladophora Crispata by Norman probably J. Hypuum Vernicosum by Arnold late 1800s. T ray 8 contains 4 slides of plant sections including Rochea Falcata T.

Of leaf and Paullinia Pinnata T. Tray 9 contains 10 assorted slides including 4 French mounts. The French mounts include "snout or proboscis of fly" and "marrow of elder tree". Others include Bacillus tuberculosis in lung by R. Beck; bone of man prepared by Norman for Dr.

Beck; vertical section of human skin from sole of feet by E. Hinton 12 Vorley Road London working from 1864 to 1901; human hair by Mrs. Nine trays carrying over 90 antique slides. Some rare types" is in sale since Thursday, December 3, 2020.
