An Early Cuff Design Solar Microscope by Peter Dollond. The Microscope is in original condition and lacquer finish. The Microscope dates from around 1760 and is of the earlier signed example.
The Instrument comes in its original flamed mahogany fitted case with the 6 original objectives 4 with brass screw thread removable dust cups as would have been supplied. 2 part Cuff screw barrel style rack and pinion focus tube with Main body tube in perfect working condition with good clean and free from scratch lenses. The Stage has its geared rotation Butterfly knob and mirror adjuster. The Mirror is original and 18th Century and can be described as in exceptional condition for its age.
There are 3 Microscope slides and the original 18th Century brass 4 compartment reusable slider. The Instrument has its 3 original 18th Century engraved Dovetail slide condensers, also the original 2 part container for Mica and "C" ring slide covers, with unused "C" rings. There is 1 of the 2 original window shutter screws. The Solar Microscope case has its 2 brass closing clasps and hooks and Lock and Key.Case Dimensions = 12 x 6.25 x 3 Inches.
