Microscope Brass New English Medical Microscope James Brown Fine Case

A Fine condition and of Museum quality Microscope in its original fitted Mahogany case. The Microscope is an example of the " New English Medical Microscope " approved by the professors of the leading colleges in England and Scotland.

The microscope is solid lacquered and bronzed brass with 2 objectives and two eyepieces " A & B ". There is a double sided rotating mirror in lacquered brass mount. Both mirrors are fine with no foxing. The tube is double extending and and signed " James Brown, 76 St Vincent St, Glasgow ".

The solid brass stage has a fine lacquered chamfered edge with bronzed face and original coppered stage clips. As you can see from the images all fittings and screws etc are in outstanding condition. The Course focus is by the draw tube and fine focus via the knurled lacquered brass screw on the main body. The microscope has its original solid Brass extending Bulls eye lens and also 3 interchangeable barrel stage stops.

The body can be angled on the foot for comfort in use. The microscope is in its original fitted mahogany case with original magnification tablature in the inside lid, it includes working lock and key, Brass inlaid escutcheon and closing clasps. It also has original leather handle intact. Case Dimensions: 30 x 18 10 cms.
