Marine flag panel telescope, Dollond. Admiral Richard Crozier

A fine single draw marine telescope, the taper barrel covered with brown tan leather and supporting two flag panels; one showing compass signals (the centre compass rose signed' Emanuel, Portsmouth'), the other flag panel showing' Flags and Pendants in Merchant Service' and also' Corresponding Flags for Men of War'. The single draw is signed' Dollond, London', the draw tube, eye piece and collar are Sheffield silver plate on copper and brass, the sun visor and lens cap is nickel silver. There is also an engraved motif of an arm holding a staff: this is the family emblem of Richard Crozier.

Richard Crozier, born 26/08/1803, Isle of Wight. 1813 - Oct 1814: On board'Benbow', 1st Class Volunteer. 1814: Entered the Royal Naval College.

1819 - 18120:'Active', 1st Class Volunteer. March 1823 - Feb 1826:'Lively', Lieutenant. 1824: Appointed Military Order of the Tower and of the Sword, of Valour, Loyalty & Merit. Feb 1826 - April 1827:'Ariadne', Lieutenant.
