Large Early Nineteenth Century Gallery Glass Or Library Glass
For sale, a very large early Nineteenth Century Gallery Glass or Library Glass. Comprised of a turned mahogany surround holding a huge eight inch lens with a turned mahogany handle connected by a generous brass ferrule screwed to the base. One of the largest of its type that I have handled measuring ten inches in diameter, this example retains most of its original lacquer to the brasswork and although it does have some scratches to the ten o clock position of the lens it does not effect its function. A very imposing magnifier which would have been used in either a library or gallery setting to allow closer visual inspection. Jason Clarke Antiques are happy to discuss carriage, condition or for any other queries, alternatively, you can also message us and we will endeavour to come back to you as soon as possible.
