Circa 1820 - 30, Jones Improved type brass microscope by'Abraham, Bath' as signed on the foot, circa 1820 - 30, standing 15 (38 cms) high in mahogany case (30 cms x 19.5 cms) with compass joint to the base and a good selection of accessories including fish plate, 6 numbered objectives, stage forceps, stage magnifyer, bulls eye condenser, lieberkuhn, talc box, hand forceps, 3 glass tubes etc. There are 24 bone slides, 12 with old handwritten notes on the specimens.
Hair & eyes of a spider. The other 12 slides appear similar including insect wings, hair, legs, fauna. The microscope has been polished in the past and has reasonably'mellowed down' to a nice patina. Two cracks to lid corner.
