Hicks Compass military sighting and marching compass c1875. A Victorian military sighting and marching compass by Hicks (unmarked) in good condition with original leather pouch (missing part of its fastening strap).
The compass has a sighting bracket (into which a vertical hairline may be fitted and held in place with two cocktail stick points trimmed off). The eye prism is good and has a metal sliding cover. It can be adjusted vertically in a slide.
The eye prism folds down for carrying. The dial lock is at the base of the sighting bracket. Dimensions: 10.5cm x 7cm diameter x 2.5cms deep (at folded eye prism). Condition: Excellent and fully functioning. Note one small flake of glass off the dial window. Please examine photographs for condition.
