A rare folding Standard Yard, finished in lacquered brass, engraved on one side in inches to 3 feet, 1/16th inch, 1/12th inch and also to 1/100th of an inch. The reverse side engraved from 1/16th, 1/8th, 1/4 yd, 3/8, 1/2 yd, 5/8, 3/4 yd, 7/8, 1 yd. Also engraved,'W & T.

Avery Ltd, London' and,'Corporation of Preston' along with various official stamp marks for the Exchequer. Contained is a felt lined mahogany case with brass cartouche.
