This is an extremely rare & antique electromagnetic tuning fork, oscillator or chronographic electrical fork. This is the oldest model i have seen.
I can affirm this apparatus represent the FIRST TECHNOLOGY THAT PRODUCED AN ELECTRIC SOUND. This technology inspired all speakers developpement.
This technology also inspired the history of watchmaking with the Bulova Accutron tuning fork electronic movement. This is one of the first electric tuning fork ever made. This apparatus may be driven magnetically using a solenoid to attract one of the steel prongs of the fork. A make-and-break contact in the energizing ci/rcuit provides the feedback to keep the oscillations going.
This amazing device was m ade in Paris, France. It is signed by Charles Verdin. Original condition (no restoration or replaced pieces). I did not test it because i do not know how much power make it works the tuning fork is engraved: ´´100 V. O´´ - that means hz. Item will be sent in two packages to avoid any damage (diapason will be separated of wooden base). Wooden base measures: 36 centimeters (long) X 12 centimeters (depth) X 2.5 centimeters (height).
