C19th Fine Antique Medical Brass & Steel Trephine Or Trepanning Tool/instrument

A C19th medical instrument i. Surgical Trephine or Trepanning tool used to remove a circle of bone or tissue. This instrument is made from brass and steel and has a cylindrical blade and the loosening of the knurled brass knob at the side enables a sharp steel spike to be moved up and down in the centre. The instrument has a total length of 4.5 in (115 mm) with the spike unextended and the handle has a maximum width of 4.25 in (105 mm).
