VTuTF stands for'Vereinigte Telefon- und Telegraphenfabrik' /United Telephone and Telegraph Factory. In 1880 Czeija opened a workshop for mechanics and telegraph construction in Vienna, which in 1884 with the participation of Franz Nissl in the Telephon- und Telegraphenfabrik Czeija, Nissl & Co. This company played a major role in building the telephone network of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. In 1896 the United Telephone and Telegraph Factory Czeija, Nissl & Co.
Was created through the takeover of the rival company Telegraphen- und Telefonbauanstalt C. The American Western Electric Company also participated in the company.In 1905 the company became a stock corporation. In 1926/27, the International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation (ITT), which had previously acquired Western Electric, became the majority owner.
