The mechanical stage has x and y-axis adjusters with smooth rack and pinion and a helical screw mechanisms. The x-axis system is undamaged and running true - often the x-axis adjuster mechanism gets bent on this model of stage because of its vulnerable position and the fact that it sticks out so much from the side of the stage. Not this example though, it's in just about perfect condition.
This particular version of the Edinburgh-H stage affixes to the underside of the upper limb via two small steel bolts along with a couple of guide pins - the listing photos show the dimensions of the fitting. If a collector has a Watson Edinburgh-H model of a similar era, this stage may be a good upgrade owing to the excellent condition and mainly intact lacquer, or it may be a perfect source of otherwise almost impossible-to-find parts.
