English Eclectic Antiques & Unique Interiors. A fantastic set of antique weighing scales. Made by W&T Avery Ltd, Birmingham. The company were founded in the 18th century, becoming W&T Avery in 1818 and were incorporated as a Limited Company in 1891.
The company started in Birmingham before expanding. Dating the late 19th or early 20th Century. The cast iron is Japanned and is painted with a stunning gilt toleware design. They have a fabulous timeworn patina and can be used on the floor or strong surface. A lovely period piece, perfect to display in a kitchen or bathroom to add a burst of personality and character to a modern space. Scratches to gilt toleware and wear to Japanned casing. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
