The height of the burner is adjustable by a small brass tightening knob. There is also a large convex lens on an adjustable arm to further direct the light source towards the microscope. The end of the wick turner is marked with the maker's name Holmes, Booth & Haydens. It is in good condition for its age.
It has been cleaned and the brass has been lightly polished and it displays very nicely. All parts seem to move as they should.
I have not tested the burner but it looks in good order and the wick turner moves freely so I see no reason why it wouldn't work. The only point to note is there is a small crack in the bottom of the glass chimney (see photo). The lamp comes in its original pine box with brass carrying handle and latch. The box is in good condition with a few age related marks and knocks but nothing detrimental.
Box : 12" / 30cm x 5 1/2" / 14cm. The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions at all please ask.
