Antique Rare Oak Mercury Mining Stick Barometer By John Davis Of Derby
This antique old mining stick barometer was made by John Davis of Derby, a company that produced mining safety equipment of the highest quality. It has an oak case with a solid brass bezel around the glass covered dial. The circular knob on the front lifts the digits on the right hand side as I have tried to demonstrate in the photos showing it at different levels. These is some discolouration to the bottom of the barometer as photos show but the mercury is still present and it works fine. There are numerous screw holes in the front towards the bottom so I assume a plate of some description is missing from it. It measures 95 cm (37 3/8) tall, 9cm wide (3 1/2) and 7 cm deep(2 3/4).
