Antique Michael MAULEVAUT French Sundial, circa 18th Century
Here we have a Michael Maulevaut hexagon compass sundial, early 18th century, signed "MAULEVAUT a` PARIS", the horizontal plate engraved with hour scales, the compass with a plain needle, the folding gnomon with a bird support, the reverse engraved with latitudes of continental European cities, 7.3 cm (2 1/2" x 2 3/4") long, being a Butterfield type sundial in outstanding condition.
