This is a beautiful and rare drawing set by JP Cutts, Sutton and Sons, Sheffield. In 1845 he formed a partnership with George Sutton and his son and was renamed J. Cutts & Sutton & Son. For the high quality of the optical instruments he received the title of Opticians to Her Majesty, Sheffield & London'.
His business remained active until 1869. This set dates to around 1850-55. The set is contained within a wooden polished box and has 3 sections. The top lid contains protractors, the shelf contains the various drawing compass and beneath are additional protractors, rulers, compass, set square, shape templates etc. The majority of the pieces are brass and steel.
All are working and usable. All the tools I have collected have been left in the condition they would have been last used to maintain their authenticity.. They are ideal to restore or leave as they are. Non smoking house and stored in dark and dry conditions. So please study them carefully. If you are are uncertain of anything please contact me and ask. I have looked up the costs of all the items and tried to keep the starting price fair in order to allow market forces to dictate.
If you get a bargain then good as we will both win.
