This is lovely inlaid mahogany stick. Barometer by SALMONI of BATH. The case is made from mahogany with wonderful grain which has been arranges in a Herringbone design down the length of the barometer which sets it off beautifully. It has also been nicely inlaid inlaid. The barometer dates to circa 1830 / 1840.
The top is finished with a lovely shaped pediment. Below this is the barometer register plate, signed by the maker'LOFTUS, LONDON', bearing manually operated vernier. The approximate MAXIMUM dimensions are: 5 inches / 12.5 cm wide x 2 1/4 inches / 5.5 cm deep x 39 inches / 99 cm high.As can be seen from these dimension this is a barometer is of lovely proportions. The barometer is in condition as can be seen from the photographs just minor marks commensurate with age and there is a little veneer lacking to the top left corner of the door frame and the small moulding return to the right.
