Antique Electrical Spring Circuit Breaker Knife Switch Slate Board Frankenstein

Antique 2 Pole Spring Assisted Circuit Breaker. 40a nominal - 1a trip current (can be set to trip from 1-3a).

Approximately 8 inches x 8 inches. Materials: Copper, Brass, Bakelite, Slate, Wood, Steel. This is a spring loaded antique circuit breaker. It is fully working and has been restored. Very fun satisfying spring loaded mechanism.

Copper surfaces have been cleaned, resurfaced and where necessary, lightly oiled. All screws have been cleaned and tightened.

Slate has been polished and oiled. Bakelite has been polished and oiled. The circuit breaker mechanism itself has been restored. It is in working condition.

The circuit breaker will trip and automatically open the switch at approximately 1-3a, depending on the position of the magnetic piece. The circuit breaker works with carbon blocks to handle breaking and activating of the circuit. The carbon blocks have long lifespan and can arc without damage.

The handle is attached to a wooden bar which is attached to the brass roller mechanism. This roller mechanism pushes the contacts into place. Copper springs in the bottom of the breaker push upwards and when the trigger mechanism is activated the breaker will rapidly disengage. The magnetic activator pieces have a small piece of tape attached to them in order to fix the worn down trigger surfaces. Original copper windings are still in place and are functioning.
