It was reputedly used by many well known Masters. Unlike the Camera Obscura, this instrument was used in daylight.
This is a Victorian example and dates from around 1840. It comes in its original case with Instructions. The body of the Camera is presented in polished and lacquered brass. It measures 9 1/4" at its lowest extension (8" in the box) and extends to a maximum of 19. The barrel telescopes twice the upper most part being numbered:- 2,3,4,5,7.10 and D.
There is no makers name on the Instrument. The head is Marked Patent and it carries a hand engraved number 936.
This number is replicated on one face of the prism. Whilst it remains in lovely condition please note that some neanderthal has tried to tighten two pivot screws with a pen knife or something similar.
The is some minor tarnishing to the barrel. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
