Good example of an antique dissecting microscope dating from the early 20th Century. The microscope stands on a black weighted horse-shoe base with a brass tube. It has a square black stage with two slide clips and a mirror below to direct the light onto the specimen. The main tube is supported on a black arm signed with the maker's name. The microscope has a rack and pinion coarse focus with two adjustment wheels on the back of the microscope.
The microscope measures approximately 8 (20cm) tall plus further extension. The base is 3 1/2" (9cm) long x 3" (8cm) wide. It appears to be in good working order and I have set it up and tested it with a few old slides. I'm sure the lenses would probably benefit from a clean but they produce a clear and bright image all the same and the microscope was easy to focus. The microscope is in good condition for its age and it has been cleaned and lightly polished to retain its aged patina. It has been well used and will have normal signs of wear so please don't expect it to be like new. There are small knocks and light scratches on the base, some paint loss and the brass has tarnished over time but overall it displays well.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions at all please ask. Baker High Holborn London Brass Dissecting Microscope with Lenses" is in sale since Sunday, May 10, 2020.
