You are viewing an interesting microscope light condenser or'bullseye' in a fitted mahogany case. I would estimate it was made around the middle of the 19th century.
The bullseye is about 9 inches tall assembled and in good condition with some wear and loss to the original lacquer (I have not attempted to polish the instrument). It comes with its fitted case which measures 7 1/4 inches by 4 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches tall. The box has some condition issues with a split near the back of one hinge and a damaged escutcheon plate. Unfortunately the key is missing from the box.
