Base and pillar are in a heavy casting with large spread, making the microscope stand firmly in the set vertical position, enamel is in very good condition. Limb is made in a solid casting, and is of an exceptionally robust construction and is shaped for conveniently lifting the instrument without risk of damage to the adjustable parts.Stage is of a standard size, measuring 3in x 3.3/8in. Stage clips for holding specimen in position are provided and also in good condition. Focussing adjustments, seperate course and fine rack and pinion, the fine adjustment is of a very strong and effective design. It is constructed in such a manner that a smooth working focussing adjustment. It is actuated by two milled heads, one on each side of the limb, thus being readily accessible to either hand.
The plano concave mirror is also in excellent condition. Double nosepiece with two objectives fitted Eyepiece: Carl Zeiss 10x. Swift 2/3inch, the other is unmarked. The instrument is supplied in a mahogany case, this is not original to the microscope and is not a great fit, the leather carry handle is also present and in good condition.
