A mid 19th Century lacquered brass microscope signed on the eyepiece tube. J P Cutts & Sutton & Son, Opticians to Her Majesty, Sheffield & London'.

The instrument has a working rack & pinion focus with no damage or missing teeth. It has the advantage of an extra wide field of view eyepiece & focuses well through all objectives. Accessories include: six objectives (the first with double stacking lens); brass & glass trough; live-box (with 2 glasses present); screw-top talc box: hand magnifier; stage magnifier; stage forceps (one adjustment pin absent); tweezers; glass phial; centre stage lens & similar bone insert; six bone slides with transparent & opaque subjects.

The original lacquer is scuffed in places commensurate with age. Good mirror with silvering intact. Bad points: lower drawer below accessories is absent also the lock has been forced sometime in the past so the front of the case is scared - see pictures. Case measures: 28 x 14.5 x 10 cms.
