Antique French double-barrelled mechanical vacuum air pump, 1840s. The renowned microscope maker Family, Chevalier began their business in 1765, on 69 Quai de lHorloge, Paris.

Pierre Ambroise Richebourg, took over Chevalier´s shop on Quai de lHorloge, and operated there for many years from 1841 while describing himself as le seul élève de Vincent Chevalier (the only student of Vincent Chevalier).
