A compass with brass dial and blued steel needle mounted on the centre of the brass octagonal horizontal plate finely engraved with scrolled ornamentation. Circular base-plate signed, on reverse And Vogl for Andreas Vogler of Augsburg, and engraved with latitudes of several cities Eleva Poli = Elevatio Poliarum (latitude of cities) Augsburg Paris 48, Cracau (Kracow) 50. CONDITION: In good condition and shape considering its age, with signs of age and usage. WIDEST DIAMETER: 5.4 cm (2.13 inches).
