An excellent folding, portable microscope in case by Ernst Leitz
A very clean black enamelled and lacquered brass folding portable microscope, signed on the draw tube, Ernst Leitz, Wetzlar. No 195985; the same number ingrained to the inside of the case allowing us to accurately date the microscope to 1918 / 19. The microscope stands 32 cms high racked up with an additional 7 cms when the graduated draw tube is fully pulled. The microscope holds a fine focus silver thumb wheel, triple nose-piece, double sided mirror and a sub stage condenser with a diaphragm. The stage is able to rotate 90 degrees and the V shaped stand pushed inwards (together) for compactness within the wooden case.
The mahogany case (30.5 cms x 22 cms x 12 cms) has a carrying handle, lock and key and holds 2 eye-pieces #3, #5, and two objectives in canisters #3 and 6. The oil immersion can is empty.
