19th Century theodolite surveyors level, Street of London. Case, tripod included
An impressive late 19th Century surveyors level by Thomas Street of London, together with its original fitted case and period tripod stand. Optician and instrument maker, operating from premises at 39 Commercial Road, Lambeth. The company was established in 1825 and continued at this address until the late 1880s. The company made a wide variety of optical instruments including theodolites and surveyors' levels. Urvives in very good condition and makes for a fine display piece when mounted on the tripod stand.
The instrument is of unusually large proportions, measuring. 45cm (18) long, 18cm (7) high. The tripod stands 140cm high.
