This French 19th century mahogany cased compass is signed'BARABAN, DUPRESSOIR SUCCr, 175 RUE St HONORE, PARIS' on the dial. It has a steel needle which pivots on a gemstone bearing and a folding sight arm which is used in conjunction with the mirror in the lid. There's also a centimeter rule on the outside edge of the base and a functioning transit lock activated by lid closure. In very good condition and fully working, it measures 80mm square by 25mm deep.
