1940s antique brass surveyor's transit theodolite by Ottway of London

A beautifully engineered brass surveyors level by Walter Ottway Thomas Ottway & Sons of London and retailed by Lawes Rabjohns of Westminster. Presented in its original black crackled paint finish but appears to be of all-brass construction meaning that it could be stripped and polished to considerable effect.

Original makers and retailers marks. 31cm high and extremely heavy/solidly built. Original fitted case, with label' W Ottway & Co Ltd, Ealing, London.
