A four inch brass ring dial, 18th century, possibly English but unsure. The letters / numerals etc are still very crisp and clear no damage. Surface dirt has been removed but the item itself remains uncleaned, the original lacquer still present in areas. The dial can be suspended from a cord or chain; the suspension point on the vertical meridian ring can be changed to match the local latitude.

The time is read off on the equatorial ring; the center bar is twisted until a sunray passes through a small hole and falls on the horizontal equatorial ring.
