You are looking at complete and working extremely rare and possibly unique transitional / development microscope by Watson & Son. This example would appear to predate their long production career for manufacturing quality microscopes and accessories that we associate with the company. The large bodied tube of the microscope detaches from the foot and stage in similar fashion to some early Ross and society of arts examples. The microscope is formed from solid lacquered brass with machine feathering to the ornate "Y" foot base and stage. The articulating foot has ornate Buttress supports to either side of the limb.

There is a single sided sliding focus mirror and the stage has its 2 original screw fitted lacquered brass stage clips. The substage accepts the push fit polariser.

The main body tube has rack and pinion focusing in perfect working order and the body tube is signed vertically " WATSON & Son, 313 High Holborn, London ". The Instrument is in its original fitted polished Mahogany case with working lock & key and Original Watson style brass carry handle.

The Microscope case is complete with. C 1/4 Inch Objective in Brass Canister d Compound Objective in Brass Canister. E 33 mm fitting Eyepiece. F Stage Forceps with cork pin holder. G Live Cell h Brass Feathered Forceps.

I Draw to hold slide specimens. The lacquer is of Museum quality throughout and original. The microscope is attached to its polished mahogany bench base with baize protectors. Microscope Height = 15 Inches min. Case Dimensions = 11 x 9 x 6.5 Inches.
