A 19th century four draw telescope with a black enamel body, signed on the first draw,'Chadburn Brothers, Opticians, Sheffield'. They worked from 1837 to 1884. This is an early example because of the type of main lens used which is 2 (50mm) diameter. The telescope length extended is 36.5" (93 cms) and 11" (28 cms) closed.The height of the pillar when fixed is 17.5 (44 cms). The pillar unscrews revealing a screw used for fitting to fence posts etc for portable viewing.
The fitted wooden case contains an additional eye-piece with high power lenses. The scope is in very good condition giving a clear image when viewing.No dents, the lenses damage free.
